If the City Council passes Mayor Albert Jurczynski's budget as proposed, the city's fire department will risk being in violation of U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration laws, Fire Chief Robert Farstad told the council Wednesday night.
``We need 20 firefighters for a first-alarm fire; that's before we even know that a fire is actually happening,'' said Farstad, outlining the positions needed to man a fire. ``I'm not going to give any guarantees of getting 20 firefighters out there with this budget.''
